Karibu / Welcome

I am African American, a licensed clinical psychologist, born in Kenya, and raised in the Bay Area. My people are nomadic and come from an oral tradition. They sit together under a tree sharing stories and poetry. I believe that it is in the sharing of stories that healing occurs. I have experience helping people cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic health issues, immigrant migration and adaptation.

My approach and practice

My approach to therapy is eclectic utilizing Relational, Afro-centric, Person-centered, Narrative, and Trauma informed techniques. I also utilize cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, and stress management techniques.

We will sit together “under a tree” to explore what ails you. We will work together to find solutions that are personal to you. Together we will find your path towards healing.

I work virtually using telehealth (video or telephone).
